Assessment: Insight before decisions are made
Delivered before the witness statement exchange, this assessment provides an opportunity for the client and solicitor to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a potential witness before a final decision is made on whether to call them. For those witnesses who still have to be called, this assessment identifies what further training the witness may need.
Prior to the session, the witness completes a psychological questionnaire measuring how they are likely to react in a high-stakes environment.
During the session, the witness undergoes a series of cross-examinations using real-life personal experiences unrelated to the facts of the case. This tests how the witness is likely to react to sustained and forensic questioning at trial. After the session, a report is prepared on the witness’s performance. The psychologist supports the creation of a high-performance mindset, addressing internal obstacles that inhibit effective performance. Training is based on our unique psychological profiling tool, allowing the session to be tailored to particular behavioural traits.
Assurety assessment also provides an early opportunity to orient witnesses in preparation for what lies ahead, helping them engage more effectively with the legal team and reducing friction and anxiety over the nature of the task.
